Forty percent of the Mongolian's are nomads. They pack their belongings four or five times per year and move to another location. In the early 1990's, the control of communist Russia left and a democracy was born. Signs of this era still exist with the central hot water pipes and apartment buildings in UB City, Mongolia's capitol. Younger people are excited by democracy's potential, some older folks lament of the days when "everything was ready."
